Kitchen Renovation

After a flood destroyed the kitchen of their SW Portland home, Peter + Aimee called us on to re-envision their kitchen. The goal was to find a language for the kitchen that felt natural to the Victorian character of the house, but also evoked the present.

The backsplash makes a statement in glossy emerald large-format tile. White painted cabinetry, designed by Michael Howells, is clean-lined but also references tradition.

“I am a firm believer that attention to detail makes a good project become outstanding, and that is exactly what Michael provided. From the selection of materials, to critiquing craftsmanship to the last detail, Michael turned our project into something that I would not hesitate to call a 'once in a lifetime' kitchen.”

Dragon scales

Our aim for the kitchen backsplash was a deep jewel tone, to conjure a Victorian feel. The result is extra-gorgeous in person. We call it dragon-scale green!
